Does El Paso TX have a PARTY Scene for YOU?

Does El Paso have a party scene? Yes. El Paso has craft cocktail bars, a lively college bar district near UTEP, and beer and wine festivals, plus a unique perk: recreational cannabis is legal just minutes away across the New Mexico line.

Downtown has spots like Hush Hush near the ballpark with great craft cocktails and cool vibes, and the area by the University of Texas at El Paso is packed with bars and restaurants popular with students. Bars and restaurants can serve alcohol until midnight (1 a.m. Saturdays), or until 2 a.m. with a late-hours permit, while liquor stores run Monday through Saturday until 9 p.m. and close Sundays. El Paso also sits a few miles from Sunland Park, New Mexico, where recreational cannabis is legal even though Texas has not legalized it. A quick heads-up from the video: open containers are not allowed in vehicles, and a first DWI runs at least $2,000 plus mandatory jail time.

Does El Paso TX have a PARTY Scene for YOU?

Welcome to Living in El Paso, Texas. My name is John Peña and in this video I think it's going to be a pretty fun little episode because we're going to talk about what is the party scene, what are the options for you if you're looking to get your party on, and we thought we would kind of start out

here in front of a new-ish bar called Hush Hush. The stadium is right here, downtown is right here. This is just one of many great bars in El Paso. Great craft cocktails, cool scenes, epic vibes inside.

So El Paso has a great scene and in a second we're going to go over to Alex and check out the scene that's closer to UTEP, more maybe what the college folks and younger crowd is doing, but we wanted to talk a little bit about, quite honestly, liquor and cannabis in El Paso.

Alex is going to break down kind of the rules around liquor consumption, when you can buy it, when you can't, how later bars open here in a second, but while I'm here I wanted to talk a little bit about cannabis because some people are really into that, whether it's kind of for your party scene, kind of recreational use, or whether it's more of a medicinal,

help you sleep, help you deal with pain, and El Paso is in a super unique position because in the state of Texas, marijuana, cannabis is not legal recreationally. However, we are merely footsteps away from New Mexico, specifically Sunland Park, we've got some drone footage that we took the other day, and New Mexico, cannabis is legal recreationally.

So it's a unique position being here in El Paso because we live in a state where cannabis isn't legal, however, we're only a couple of miles, literally, from recreationally legal cannabis here in New Mexico. So we know that some people, like I said, that's their preferred medicine, so to speak,

and that is an option. Miguel and I were joking the other day that some of the cities like Austin, Houston, San Antonio, they're probably not jealous of El Paso for much of anything, but they might be a little bit jealous of us for this, like I said, simply because of our proximity.

If that's your thing, that is readily available just miles across the border here in New Mexico. So, Epic Bars, we've got some great festivals, whether it's craft brew festivals, wine festivals are coming up, so it's a really good, I think healthy and fun kind of party scene here in El Paso.

But let's go over to Alex and kind of check out what the scene is over at UTIP. I'm here close to downtown by the University of Texas at El Paso. This area is very popular, especially with the students because there's a lot of bars and restaurants.

Now, the bars and restaurants are allowed to sell alcohol every day until midnight and Saturdays until 1 a.m. Now, they have a late hours permit. They can sell alcohol up until 2 a.m.

If you're not really into the bar and restaurant scene, you can go to the grocery stores and convenience stores and buy beer or wine every day of the week until midnight and Saturdays until 1 a.m. Now, if you want to buy hard liquor, you have to go to a liquor store.

Those are going to be open from Monday to Saturday until 9 p.m. and they're closed on Sundays. One of the popular liquor stores, I would say, is Spex and also Total Wine. Another option that people have is to order beer, wine or mixed drinks from restaurants.

They can do delivery or they can do pickup as well. Thank you so much for checking out the video. We wanted it to be a live video. Obviously, you know, we all like to kind of get our party on.

We do want to, of course, do say that, of course, open containers are not permitted in any vehicles. A first DWI offense is going to cost you at least $2,000 and you're going to spend three days mandatory in jail.

And for those of you that really have problems with limits, if you really, really want to party hard, you, of course, could just go over the border into Juarez. I think you could probably, you know, hang out at bars almost all night and really do it up.

But for here in El Paso, this is kind of what we've got, lots of beautiful people having a good time. So we hope that you're doing the best and we'll see you in the next episode.
