Living in El Paso
Where should you stay in downtown El Paso? Hotel Paso Del Norte is a beautifully restored historic hotel downtown, recently renovated by Marriott, and it is a great pick for a stay in the heart of the city.
The hotel is more than a century old, dating to 1912 and originally built by famed El Paso architect Henry Trost, and it reopened in October after a major renovation. The video shows real El Paso affordability in action: a room ran about $150 a night. Highlights include a modern air purification system, a grand ballroom, the on-site Dome Room bar, and a 10th-floor spa, fitness center, and outdoor pool with sweeping city views, plus a view of Southwest University Park where the Chihuahuas and Locomotive play. Nearby Park Tavern made for a solid dinner out.
Hi and welcome to Living in El Paso, Texas. My name is John Peña and this is January 1st, 2021. Yesterday we had the great fortune of picking up these beautiful gift baskets from Savage Goods that we've been giving to our new relocating buyers. A beautiful couple, young family here.
Hi and welcome to Living in El Paso, Texas. My name is John Peña. I'm a real estate agent with EXP here and for this week's video we decided to shoot a little adventure. We decided to get out of the house for New Year's Eve. We rented a hotel called Hotel Paso Del Norte that was recently renovated and
opened just a couple months ago and we decided just to kind of show you, you know, what it was like for us on this wrap-up 2020 year. So Hotel Paso Del Norte is pretty old. It's been around for over a hundred years. I think it opened Thanksgiving 1912. It was recently renovated by the
Marriott and just actually opened in October. So it's a pretty historic building built by Henry Trost. He built and his brothers built a ton of buildings in El Paso and so it was pretty nice checking in. Free bottle, no, free glass of champagne. Good thing it wasn't a bottle. Really cool thing that
we noticed about the hotel is that they have this crazy air purification system. So they were very COVID aware and actually the whole city is pretty COVID aware because every place was shutting down at 10. So I'm always talking about how affordable El Paso is. This room I
believe cost us $150 for a night and I think quite honestly prices probably would have been higher but since there weren't really any like festivities or anything going on the price was we thought pretty affordable. They do have a huge ballroom so hopefully next year you know there's going to be way more people
out and they'll fill that ballroom up. Now I'm always talking about weather. People are always asking about it so I thought it would be fun just to capture this gentleman. I hope they don't copyright sue me on this but you can see tonight low is supposed to be 27 and
tomorrow I think the high is supposed to be 48 so that was today and that rang pretty true. So here's us being super awesome and going through the kitchen service elevators like true fancy folk but actually we just did that because the other elevators were slow and they said we could do it. So this is
us taking a walk out to dinner. So Park Tavern is the restaurant that we decided to go to. It's not super fancy but I mean it did survive COVID in 2020 so that's saying something for it. So we had made reservations and we decided to check it out. Here's even the prices to
kind of continue with our theme that yes it is affordable. So actually I had the elk tenderloin there. My wife had the lamb. I apologize to the vegans. That scene was probably very challenging to watch. My apologies. Here is us however moving on with our evening back at the hotel. This
is called the Dome Room. So there's a bar in there. Yes we did have another drink I must admit. And one of the really cool things is on the 10th floor there's a spa and the fitness center and there's this outdoor pool. So this really also kind of gives you a great view of the city. Moon is really bright. So now this
is looking towards if you look in your left you can see that big building that says Plaza. Now that is another brand-new recently renovated hotel that's I think supposed to be dare I say even a little fancier. And this is the next day. First day January 1st 2021. There's a picture of
the stadium from our room. The Chihuahuas and the locomotive play there. And here's us working on Marcel. So Leah really wants to turn him into a service dog and this is a perfect example of me doing some exercise with the animal. Exercise, discipline, affection. In that order.
And now here we are in the hotel. Great stay. We've got nothing but good things to say about the hotel. I had the lemon blueberry pancakes there. Leah had the breakfast burrito with no gluten. So again very affordable. Staff there were very professional and we had a really great time.
So there you have it everybody. Pretty great experience. I hope that everybody's 2021 is absolutely fantastic and thanks so much for all your support.
