Western Playland | Eat Your Heart Out Disneyland and Six Flags

Is there an amusement park in El Paso? Yes. Western Playland is the only amusement park in the El Paso and Las Cruces area, located at Sunland Park, New Mexico, just west of the city.

We visit Western Playland and tell its story. The park first opened in 1960, started by the Patrick Thomas family at Ascarate Park near the lake, then moved to Sunland Park after the Sunland Park casino owner donated land for the relocation. After 62 years with the same family, the park was sold to Traders Village, which plans to expand it with new food and drink options, vendor spaces, new rides, and concerts. Traders Village is known for listening to visitor feedback, so there is hope for working with local businesses and vendors. It is a fun, easy day out for the kids.

Western Playland | Eat Your Heart Out Disneyland and Six Flags

Hello everybody and welcome back to Living in El Paso, Texas. Today we are in the west side of El Paso checking out the only amusement park in the El Paso Las Cruces area. This place is called Western Playland Amusement Park.

Let's go and check it out. The park first opened up in 1960 by the Patrick Thomas family. It originally opened up at Esquerrada Park right next to the lake. However, after some conflicts with the El Paso County, the owner decided to move its

location to Sunland Park, where the owner of the Sunland Park Casino donated land to accommodate this move. After 62 years of ownership by the same family, the park has been sold to Traders Village. Under this new ownership, the park is expected to expand by incorporating new food and drink

options, spaces for vendors, new rides, and concerts for the park to enjoy. Something that Traders Village is known for is their consideration for the feedback of their park's visitors. They are open to hearing the community out with ideas for new foods, music, or even different

attractions to bring to the park. Hopefully this means that they will be willing to work with some of our local businesses and vendors in the area to make the park even better than before. If you're looking for a place to take the kids, come to Western Plainland at Sunland

Park. Thank you very much for joining us and we'll see you on the next episode.
