What's NEW in El Paso Texas? | Spring 2024 | New Places and Attractions are Coming!

What new places and attractions are coming to El Paso? In spring 2024, the lineup included Mutt's Canine Cantina, The Elmont resort and swim club on the west side, and a proposed Sunset Amphitheater in the Northeast.

We tour the new and proposed. On the west side near I-10, Mutt's Canine Cantina pairs an off-leash dog park with a bar and grill on a day, monthly, or yearly pass (around $10 a day for one dog), and the new Elmont event center features a swim club with a lazy river, water slides, cabanas, and a desert kitchen and bar. In the Northeast, Meta was weighing an estimated $800 million hyperscale data center on about 1,000 acres, and the City Council approved an incentive deal with Notes Live to build the roughly $80 million, 12,500-seat Sunset Amphitheater on the old Cohen Stadium site, which could finally bring big touring acts to town. We also point to the nearby Campo del Sol housing growth.

What's NEW in El Paso Texas? | Spring 2024 | New Places and Attractions are Coming!

Welcome to Living in El Paso, Texas. My name is John Penny with Penny El Paso Realty Group. In this episode we're going to talk about what's new in El Paso spring 2024. If you're interested in this type of stuff, please consider subscribing to the channel. And let's jump into it. So we've got a couple of

new things coming to the west side, and then a couple of new things coming to the northeast, which is where I am right now. Our beautiful Franklin Mountains right behind me. Let's start with the west side. Over by this area off our Interstate 10. There's a skydiving place over here. The Topgolf is over here. Some

new restaurants. One of the things that's coming is Mutt's Canine Cantina. This is basically a cool concept where basically there's like a big outdoor dog park area, but it's connected to a bar grill. The idea is that you have a membership. You can do a day pass. You can do a monthly pass. You can do a yearly pass. But

basically it's an off-leash dog park, which means, yes, dogs have got to be spayed, neutered, friendly, sociable, current on their vaccines. You know they can't have a bunch of fleas and ticks or anything like that. But basically you take your dogs to this Mutt's Cantina. You let them run around like crazy

dogs in this dog park area. Get all their energy out while you sit back. Maybe meet some other like-minded people. Have something to eat. Get a drink. I'm sure they've got like a little dog menu with different things going on. Some ideas about prices. A day pass for one dog about $10. Monthly pass for one dog $20.

Yearly pass for one dog $195. If you have two dogs, three dogs, it kind of goes up from there. So that's pretty interesting. That looks like it's coming soon. And then right around the corner from there is a new kind of resort event center called the Elmont. Now this place has an event center. Afrojack is going to be

there today for instance. So they're having musical acts come through. They've got what they're calling a swim club. It's got like six water features like a lazy river, water slides, cabanas, bar and grill. They've got a clubhouse gym for people that are residents in that community. And then they've got what's

called a Vaga Desert Kitchen and Bar. Again that's kind of the swim club especially works on kind of a pass system. But this looks like a really cool new addition whether you maybe are just looking to get away. Take the kids to a water park for the day and chill out. Or if you're visiting maybe someplace to

consider checking out as well. Now let's talk about the Northeast. Metta, parent company of Facebook Instagram. Now this isn't finalized yet, but they are considering developing a new hyperscale data center, an estimated $800 million investment. They're looking to purchase a 1,000 acre track of city-owned land for

about $8.5 million. Basically there could be five different kind of building phases each totaling around 800,000 square feet. It says that basically they're trying to leverage El Paso's strategic location, climate advantages, and renewable energy resources. I'm sure solar power is what they're talking

about, to support their digital infrastructure needs. This could mean thousands of jobs, boost the housing demand here, and kind of stimulate economic growth. I think it's awesome because if you've been watching the channel too, you know talking about boosting housing demand in this

Northeast area. They're building that Campo del Sol area, which is going to be a ton of housing. We made a video about it. Check that out if you haven't seen that. But I think this is really a cool connection potentially with also this Metta project. And then I'm standing where exactly behind me here used

to be Cohen Baseball Stadium. I talked to one of the security guards here. They said that they basically went bankrupt and they decided to kind of tear it down. But what's being proposed now, and the City Council just approved this, now they're talking about building an 80 million dollar amphitheater outdoor kind

of concert venue right behind me here. So City Council approved a 31 million dollar performance-based incentive agreement with Notes Live Incorporated of Colorado Springs. That's the company that would build this amphitheater. They say it could generate 5.4 billion in economic impact. And basically it's

going to be called the Sunset Amphitheater and provide, quote, elevated hospitality, top-tier audio-visual capabilities, premium food and drink offerings, and put El Paso on the map as a prime touring destination for the biggest national and international acts traveling the southern US and northern

Mexico region. It would hold about 12,500 people more or less is what they're saying. So there go my notes. It's pretty windy today. But I think this is awesome. One of the things I talk about that El Paso maybe is kind of missing for a lot of people is we don't get a lot of like big-name musical acts. So a

lot of times big names, you know, maybe they'll play in Phoenix and then they'll pass right by us on their way to San Antonio and the other big Texas cities. But if we had an amphitheater that, you know, could sustain a big touring act, I think that would be awesome so that we could start getting some of those big

musical acts coming through. So as you can see, tons of stuff happening in El Paso, which is great for the economy, for the people that live here. And with that, I hope you found that relatively interesting, whether you're from here or whether you're considering moving here. If you're considering a move, of course,

please consider reaching out to us as far as any of your real estate needs. And other than that, we'll see you in the next episode.
