Eastlake is best understood as an address, not a development. Eastlake Boulevard runs for about 11 kilometres through Horizon City and the unincorporated county east of Loop 375, and Eastlake High School opened on Emerald Pass Avenue in 2010; the name spread from the road and the school to the whole stretch around them. That is why no single builder or master plan covers it. Paseo del Este alone carries listings from eighteen different builders, and Emerald from thirteen. This page covers the neighborhoods within roughly a mile of the boulevard on either side. That deliberately includes Mission Ridge, the Hunt Communities master plan whose villages line the road: several of them sit closer to Eastlake Boulevard than neighborhoods nobody would question. Mission Ridge is a development inside the Eastlake area rather than an alternative to it. The practical effect for a buyer is choice. Within a few minutes of the same high school you can look at brand-new inventory in Paseo del Este or Verdancia, a planned village in Mission Ridge, resale from the 2000s off the boulevard, and larger lots in West Eastlake Estates, at prices among the lowest per square foot in the metro for new construction. The trade-off is commute: Fort Bliss and central El Paso are a real drive, and much of the area sits in a municipal utility district, so check the tax rate on any specific address rather than assuming the city rate.

One high school, many neighborhoods

Eastlake High School (Socorro ISD, opened 2010, on Emerald Pass Avenue) is the anchor most buyers actually mean when they say Eastlake. Around it sit a dozen unrelated subdivisions, so you can compare new build and resale inside the same attendance area instead of committing to one builder's plan.

The metro's newest housing stock

Most of what trades here is recent: across Paseo del Este, Verdancia, Emerald and West Eastlake Estates, the majority of active listings are new construction and the median year built is in the 2020s. Buyers who want a house nobody has lived in, at an El Paso price, end up here.

Check the utility district before you fall in love

Much of Horizon City and the unincorporated county around it sits inside a municipal utility district, which changes the tax rate and the water bill versus a City of El Paso address. The MLS itself is inconsistent here, filing neighboring houses under both El Paso and Horizon City, so the address on the listing is not a reliable guide. Ask for the actual rate on the specific parcel.

Mission Ridge, a planned village inside the area

Mission Ridge is a Hunt Communities master plan of roughly 4,763 acres, with its own named villages and its own elementary school. Garden Park, Painted Sky, Painted Desert and Paseos all sit on the boulevard and are covered here; the villages further north are part of the same master plan but outside this corridor. Its villages line Eastlake Boulevard, so they are part of this area, but they are one developer's plan rather than the independent subdivisions around them. If you want an HOA, a phased build-out and a consistent look, start there; if you would rather compare builders street by street, look at the rest of the corridor.

Eastlake is in Horizon City and unincorporated El Paso County, ZIP 79928, along Eastlake Boulevard east of Loop 375. It is not the Far East side, which is 79938 and has no Eastlake Boulevard in it. Eastlake High School sits at 13000 Emerald Pass Avenue. The area is in unincorporated El Paso County and Horizon City rather than inside the City of El Paso proper, which is why listings here appear under both city names.

Is Eastlake a neighborhood or a subdivision?

Neither, strictly. Eastlake is an area name taken from Eastlake Boulevard and Eastlake High School, covering the mix of separate subdivisions on either side of the road: Paseo del Este, Verdancia, Emerald Estates and Emerald Park, West Eastlake Estates, Desert Breeze, Peyton Estates and the villages of Mission Ridge. There is a small older subdivision recorded as Eastlake, built mostly in the 1990s and 2000s, but it is only a fraction of what the name covers.
